HEMANT TRIVEDI

"I believe clothing must feel and look as good from the inside as it does from the outside."
He's perhaps Indian fashion's most well known exporter to the West. One of the first Indian designers to show his ready-to-wear at the Collections Premiers, Dusseldorf is his latest line, showcasing his outfits alongside designer Jil Sander, who steps down after this line.

And it does not stop there. He dresses a majority of the ladies representing India at the international pageants including the two Miss Universes Sushmita Sen and Lara Dutta along with Yukta Mookhey, Diana Hayden and Aishwarya Rai - who brought home the Miss World crowns. He is all set with Priyanka Chopra, Miss India-World's outfit. He also designs for Sheetal, one of Mumbai's largest ready-to-wear stores with catalogues that have an amazingly high NRI permeation. Alongside which he has shaped several of India's young designer minds, as visiting lecturer at the prestigious Premlila Vithaldas Polytechnic in Mumbai.

Having attended the Western Australian Institute of Design in Perth, Trivedi was the only male student to graduate in the history of the Institute. He returned to Mumbai in 1979 to lead its evolution of fashion alongside James Ferreira and Ritu Kumar. Along the way, his hair dyed blue, he worked on top advertising campaigns such as Bombay Dyeing and Garden Vareli before discovering a new passion: choreography and his presentations have not only won him accolades in India, but also in the Middle East, Europe, USA, Far East and China.
