Institute of Fashion Design
NIFD the premier fashion design institute of India was first opened at
Chandigarh in July 1995. It is the only institute in the region providing
the upcoming fashion designers with a campus equipped with fully
air-conditioned class rooms, well designed labs, computers, a modern
library and a team of dynamic and friendly faculty from all reputed
institutes throughout India and other renowned guest faculties They are
dedicated to develop creativity and professional attitude in their
students.
In the designing industry constant market research & its application
are the most vital business elements. For the primary purpose of promoting
scientific training NIFD offers one year & two year Diploma courses
& also imparts training in Computer Aided Design to help them
discharge their professional duties with a degree of efficiency &
integrity. More than 500 students have graduated from the diploma courses
& about 300 from the short-term courses.
Fashion Design
Their Fashion Design programme equips with the creative thinking along
with the essential technical knowledge. The curriculum covers the
development of garments, technical aspects like Art, Pattern Making,
Illustration, Grading, Garment construction, Draping, Merchandising and
Computer Aided Designing. Students are prepared to fabricate from the
ready to wear garmentto the Up market trends and Haute-Conture.
The programme offers students the opportunity to take up positions as
fashion coordinators, stylist, pattern makers and of course Designers.
Textile Design
Historically, the industry with Textile Design, manufacture has been
an intensely personal one depending upon traditional methods of learning.
The programme in Textile Design prepares one to understand the fabric and
screen print. Various designs alternate, Printed, hand-paint woven designs
are taught simultaneously with CAD (Computer Designing) Career options
opens to Textile / Surface design student include creative and managerial
positions as designers, colorists, stylist and fabric coordinators Etc.
Interior Design
Interior designing is an art of planning and arranging different
elements of an interior like the furniture, articles, furnishing, lighting
and the more technical aspects of flooring, partitions etc. so as to
convey the twin aims of beauty & utility.
