S.S.M. Institute of Textile Technology 

The institute was started by S.S.Marichettiar Trust in1980 through the efforts of Shri. S.S.M.Subramaniam, a reputed Industrialist, from the S.S.M. Family, involved  in the manufacture of Textiles, Leather Chemicals, Fine Chemicals and Cement. 

This Institute is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India, and by the Govt. of Tamilnadu. 

S.S.M. Institute of Textile Technology offers specialised courses in:

·  Processing
·  Man made fibres
·  Garment Technology
·  Fashion Designing
·  Marketing Management
·  Computer technology

The Institute has also the credit of coming under the Ministry of Human Resource Development to run the Community Polytechnic with the object of providing training for the rural community for upgrading the technology and to impart the technical skills.
